Issyk-Kul State University named after K.Tynystanov |
Issykkul State University is one of the largest in the Issyk-Kul Region. The university has more than 75 years of history and was the fourth university to be established in the Kyrgyz Republic. It is the flagship institution of higher learning and scholarly research in the region. In 1992, the IKSU was named for Kasim Tynystanov, who was born in Karakol, Issyk Kul in 1901and studied in Russian-tuzem school. He is one of the founders of Kyrgyz professional poetry, drama, prose, journalism, Kyrgyz philology and the first "Red Professor" – Communist professor-- in Central Asia. In order to improve the general level of student culture, the university created the Youth Cultural Aesthetic Centre "Tolkun". The cultural center hosts dance studio, theater club, komuz ensemble, vocals studio, KVN club, debate club, guitar studio. There are basketball, football, Toguz korgool, judo, wrestling, athletics, chess, volleyball, boxing and table tennis sports clubs. The gymnasium is equipped with modern fitness equipment for fitness.
