INTERNATIONAL CONFERENCE ON QULIFICATIONS FOR TOURISM SECTOR TOOK PLACE IN MOSCOW
On March 9th - 11th EurDiQ project consortium members held the International seminar “Methodology of Occupational Standards (OS) and National Qualification Framework (QF) development for tourist industry” at Financial University under the Government of RF (Moscow). Under the project a wide scale analysis of qualifications and competences of the tourist industry in such countries as UK, Germany, Cyprus, Latvia, Russia and Kyrgyzstan is intended aiming to harmonize “Tourism” Study Programmes at partner universities.
The pilot Master Programme developed in the frame of the project will base on the Occupational Standards (OSs), learning outcomes (LOs)and qualifications of tourist industry. As defined in the project’s objectives it aims at advancing qualification level of partner-universities teaching staff and enhancing employability of Russian and Kyrgyzstan graduates.
The Moscow seminar's agenda included the following events: the project follow-up meeting, the Steering Committee meeting, the panel discussion “Occupational standards of tourist industry: skill of finding a compromise” in which participated the European experts, representatives of the leading Russian and Kyrgyzstan universities as well as tourist organisations’ delegates.
Among the panel discussion speakers were: Elena Chetyrkina - Head of Marketing Department of the R&C Market Research Company (Restec Group of Companies) and various organisations’ representatives, such as: Yulia Voronina - the National Association of Tourist Information Centers , Yurij Shegolkov and Olga Subanova - Financial University under the Government of RF, Aleksey Kalachev and Darja Ostrovskaya - project “National Congress-Office of Russia”, Elena Vasileva -Saint-Petersburg State University of Economics.
The seminar was concluded with the inter-university conference on the issues of education for tourist industry: “Outlining tourism perspectives: qualification requirements and occupational standards” which was held within the 12th International Tourist Fair “Intourmarket 2017” and became a site for the EurDiQ consortium members to present the first project year results. Consortium members from leading universities of EU, Russia and Kyrgyzstan providing education for tourist industry, have discussed proposals for creating Occupational Standards and Unified Master Programs for the direction of study: “Destination management” , “MICE management”. As a result of the conference the proposals for harmonization of the occupational standards and qualification framework for tourist industry in Russia and Kyrgyzstan were defined and further project activities have been approved
